Dear citizens of Steuben County
Since taking office three years ago as your elected Sheriff, I have been able to implement many of the goals I have developed over my 27 years in the Sheriff’s Office. These accomplishments were made to better serve you, as taxpayers and members of our community. They include:
I promised you a Commitment to Public Service, and I have worked hard to deliver on that promise. The goals that I set out to accomplish in 2011 have been completed and I am constantly alert to the community and its changing needs. This commitment has never been stronger, and I will continue to seek ways to make Steuben County a safe place to live, work and raise a family.
I am asking for your support on May 6th 2014 with your vote as I will be seeking a second term as your Sheriff so that I may continue to lead your Sheriff’s Office through you. Together we can all be safe, and together we can all make a difference!

Since taking office three years ago as your elected Sheriff, I have been able to implement many of the goals I have developed over my 27 years in the Sheriff’s Office. These accomplishments were made to better serve you, as taxpayers and members of our community. They include:
- Brought the Sex and Violent Offender Registry up from 20% to 100% in accuracy and compliance.
- Restructured the Detective division, creating a proactive team of Deputies that are aggressive in prevention and solving crime.
- Created a multi-jurisdictional child abduction response team (CART), which is fully trained and prepared in the event of a missing child.
- Educated the public through annual activity reports, R.A.D. programs, drug education programs and firearms safety programs
- Modernized and streamlined our public information system, by creating a website, social media page, victim notification, and text alerts.
- Created a partnership with the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency, to expand our resources on drug related crimes.
- Restructured the Marine Patrol and use of LARE Grant funding, resulting in two consecutive years of no major boating accidents and no drownings.
- Developed a partnership with the Indiana DNR to better serve on and around our lakes.
- Created, with school officials, a schedule of both uniformed and plain clothes patrols in and around our schools, to keep our children and educators safe.
- Partnered with the Steuben County Building Department, creating proactive patrols to reduce thefts of metals, building materials and irrigation systems.
